SYNOPSIS
RAÍCES IS THE STORY OF MOTHERHOOD DOMINATED BY MIGRATION, LOVE AND LOSS. ROSSANA, A YOUNG COLOMBIAN MOTHER FEELS RESPONSIBLE TO SHOW HER 5 YEAR OLD SON CANTAVE HIS ROOTS. CANTAVE BECOMES A MIRROR THAT SHOWS ROSSANA HER OWN WOUNDS AND SCARS. HE CONFRONTS HER WITH HER INSANENESS, TAKES HER TO ANALYZE THE WORLD AROUND HER AND THE NEW FAMILY SHE IS FORMING WITH HER CURRENT PARTNER HANS. CANTAVE FORCES HER TO DIVE INTO THE UNIVERSE OF HIS HAITIAN FATHER WOODSON: AN ABSENT YOUNG MAN, A GHOST WHO HAS LEFT HIS TRAUMATIC LIFE IN THE EYES OF HIS SON. BY UNDERSTANDING HER SON'S ORIGIN, ROSSANA IS TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS TO HER SON’S QUESTIONS, AND THUS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HER OWN DECISIONS.
